Most of the multi-storied buildings in Bangladesh now keep their collapsible gate locked during daytime for security reason. So when a visitor arrives, the host has to come down with the key to unlock the collapsible gate. This is a very tedious and tiring job and the guest has to wait for a long time. That's what happen when we moved to a new apartment during my freshers. To circumvent this problem I designed and developed a mechanism which I called Telekeyds. Telekeyds stands for Tele (Long distance) key delivery system. This device can solve this whole problem with just a single press of a button!
Telekeyds includes a small box placed in the ground floor near the collapsable gate. It is connected by a wire to the electric main supply in the home, via switch. It has a tiny key entry hole and a key exit hole. The key will most of the time reside inside the telekeyds. Whenever the key is needed, the switch is pressed by the host, current flows from the main supply through the wire to the telekeyds. This allows the key to pass out through the key exit hole, and slide down the ramp into the basket which is within the reach of the guest. The guest then can use the key to unlock the collapsible gate, enter the garage and drop the key back into the telekeyds through the entry key hole. So telekeyds is ready for use again.
